We’ve all read about love, love bearing all things, under any and all kind of pressure. For we know that God is love, and in him are we, the same love and light!
To love is to be a permanent debtor to all, a servant of all.
That, is Love’s nature. It can’t help but love. It is other-love focused. All of the time.
Can God live in me, as me, and not love? Not live this way?
John 4: 7-21 takes us to the One Source, the Living Water, complete Love, and says we must love, we do love, let us love, because if we are born of God, (which we are), we are born of Love. Therefore we have his nature, pure love.
The ever invisible God, our center, our life THE life, is only made visible when we love. And if we confess that we are his and he dwells in us, we in him, then we are world lovers of ALL. That leaves no one out! For he was sent to be the savior of the WORLD!
So this is opposite of what we’re taught, self- for-self, I have to look out for me and my best interest, I have to have boundaries and all that other stuff, all these things are contradictions! For God is an outgoing God, love for others and love is outgoing, not self-seeking.
Love is self-giving, always! So must we be. This is God in action, love in action, in all things, through all and every circumstance. This is perfection, “Be perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
We walk in perfection in complete love as he continually asks of us to lay down all in surrender and abandon to all that has to do with “us” or “self”.
God doesn’t just ask us to love others when it’s convenient. He calls us to love to extremes! Often in challenging, difficult, painful situations and circumstances.
The key is, he is going to be the love in us as us. He will never ask us to do anything that he himself will not provide in himself.
He doesn’t give you love to love others, he is the very love in you, the very life in you that comes forth in these challenging times, in the most painful of circumstances to love others as you step aside and allow him to do it in and through you.
This, is the mystery of the gospel. This, is God reconciling the world to himself, by us. We are merely a conduit of his love and life to others.
By this will all men know you are my disciples.
